Milling and casting, how much would it cost to have about a dozen parts casted out of steel? Does anyone have any info on this at all?

First, a dozen parts, what size, configuration complexity?

Castings are usually sold by weight / complexity figuring into price.

Steel castings here in the DR? Not likly to my knowledge, Iron yes indeed, brass or aluminum absolutly, steel no.

Aluminum would work just fine, and the parts aren't too complex, they could be milled out of a 8X4X.5 inch piece of material.

Do a search. There have been discussions about local machine shops here.

I have searched, I found one thread, and the info was not what I was looking for, I am not trying to get a statue or some art done, it's a part for a vehicle, it needs to be done to very tight tolerances, I'm also in Santiago.

Taller de Mec?nica Industrial Pedro Heredia C. x A.

This place has apparently closed down, I've called both numbers and they are disconnected.

Well then you are not refering to a cast part, you need a machine shop, especially a one off piece, castings are for tens, hundreds and thousands of pieces in order to be economical, barring artisian castings of course.

If you PM me I will give you my fax number, send the drawing and I can have quoted. If you are outside SD, well then you need to look local in your area, Santiago actually has several decent machine shops as well.
