Hi Everyone!
I have a few questions for experienced DR travelers or Puerto Plata locals/natives. I'm going to be going to Puerto Plata for 10 days this month for work
1. How do you get from the airport to the city of Puerto Plata without renting a taxi (I've heard they're very expensive)? I am looking to go to Calle Profesor Juan Bosch no. 52, antigua Jon F. Kennedy. It's the offices of an NGO called CEPROSH. Can somebody give me the specifics on how to get where I'm going?
2. Are people in the DR generally nice? How do they react to foreigners? Specifically - foreign University researchers?
3. How do you greet somebody that you've corresponded with via email and over the phone, but never met in person?
4. I'm going to be staying with a local Dominican girl and her husband. What are the rules/customs for respecting their living space? I don't want to offend anyone...
5. What does one wear to work in Puerto Plata? Are jeans ok? Or should I be thinking slacks and a blouse?
