Claro's new speed bump kicking in.

Anyone know if these speed increases have been implemented in Bavaro? I'm considering switching from TriCom to Claro.

No, in Bavaro not yet. Our DSL modem we have there to connect remotely to some equipment has not even been switched over form the first upgrade, it is still @ 384 even though it should be 768 and now increased to 1.5 megs ... have a ticket in for that, but who knows when they will even complete our "first" upgrade. All the country was already upgraded back in 2010 while Bavaro was still "work in progress" as per Codetel's "Evolucion Flash" update site.

My office and house in Higuey were alreday upgraded on the 12th.

You are 3 times faster downloading (I am 1.31Mbps)
You are just 0.26 Mbps faster on uploads (I am at 0.49)
Your ping was twice as fast (I am at 182 ms)

I have a simple CLARO plan that was supposedly up graded...

I have no idea if this is good or bad...

It's a heck of a lot better than my Delancer/Comcast connection, last time I checked: .67 mbps up and .14 mbps down!!

Claro BB plan 3G still sucks big time... no speed at all, and only intermittent service. I just read a poster of Claro where they stated they were a sponsor of the Sauber F1-team. I just hope for Sauber that Claro is not responsible for their wireless communication service.

Flybox Orange works great here between Sosua and Cabarete, although insanely jealous of the speed Squat gets in LT...
