I will start at the most interesting point, on the flight from Miami to Santo Domingo. I met a knockout gorgeous woman from Slovenia. But on most of the flight we only spoke to each other. When I heard her speak in French, I thought to myself: Self, you don't know any French, so leave her alone. So I did for most of the trip. Well, we started talking as we exited the plane. I was excited to know she spoke English. She planned to go to Caribe Tours in SD for a bus trip to Caberete. We ended up sharing a taxi after getting a phone from Viva. $20 for phone plus I added $40 worth of minutes for the whole trip. We planned on talking because I had also planned a trip north to Sosua (near Caberete) either Friday or Saturday. As we rode in the taxi, she was making contact with her friend already there. Her friend told her not to come because of the heavy storms. I then offered to share my room until she was able to make her trip. I am staying at the Mercure on El Conde in the Zona Colonial. We showered, changed and headed out for food. She had heard Pica Pollo had good food. Well, we were directed to a resteraunt that had NO visible name on El Conde that was supposed to be Pica Pollo. The food was not freshly prepared, so I rated it an "hmmm, no comment!" after that less than pleasing meal, we walked toward the river (east on El Conde) and came across a music video being shot on the stairs leading down to the river. the Director asked her to dance with him and she was more than willing. In my view, she is going to outshine him in the video. After that, we decided to walk back (west) on El Conde to the other end. When we arrived across the street from the park with all the pics on the fence, we decided to walk further. We came across a REAL PICA POLLO resteraunt were the food looked more freshly prepared by Dominicans. We planned to stop there the next day. We kept walking looking for a dance club but ended up walking miles further westbound. Then the lightening, thunder and rains came pouring down on us. We stopped under a bus shelter hoping the rains would stop quickly. It didn't, so we caught a taxi. The driver decided during the trip he didn't want to go back toward ourhotel after he dropped off another passenger. We immediately exited and waited again for a legitimate taxi. We stood under an awning shelter and some ladies we met flagged down a taxi. By the time we made it back to the west end of El Conde, we exited the taxi and walked back to the hotel. We changed into some dryer clothes and went to the hotel resteraunt to plug into the net and get some drinks. The Presidente I was served was really cold and hit the spot. After dealing with the off and on wifi, we headed back to the room. We shared conversation and pics on my computer until we crashed. I was knocked out in minutes. End of day one
