Bringing in aerosol paint

I want to buy some specialist aerosol paint in from the US. My EPS office have told me that it would be come as a restricted item due to the dangerous goods classification of it and would cost quite a premium to ship it in. I'm looking to buy about 6 or 8 cans. It's actually more of a colour dye than a paint and not available here.

Not impossible to ship here, but expensive.

Anyone have any ideas for a cheaper option?

Anyone have any ideas for a cheaper option?
Could it be that the restrictions only apply to air transport?
Then there would be the option of "Carga Mar?tima", it is even cheaper but takes longer.

We came across a closeout on spray Rustoleum paint [$1 a can] so we bought a bunch of it and added it to a box we were shipping to DR. No problem whatsoever. Same box had a bunch of aerosol wasp spray in it. Like donP said, it might be the air transport.

Do you know someone who can buy it in US and add it to a box they're shipping? I'm shipping 3 boxes soon, but to Santo Domingo, and I know you're up north...

Yes, it's the restrictions of air transport that makes it expensive to ship.

I can buy it online and have shipped to any address in the US.

If you can pick it up in SD, send me a PM. Of course, it probably won't be there until late August!

I just shipped 3 boxes w/ Awilda ($100)...... always 3 weeks door to door... almost to the day.

On the ship July 9...... being delivered to Cabrera manana, July 2.
They can give a delivery day once it has landed on RD.

I find the spray for wasps and other bugs that you buy here more effective than what is sold in the US.

You're probably right, except our 3rd box isn't ready yet, so I'm thinking it will be a bit before we ship. Plus, we have to wait until Emb.Bellavista comes to Atlantic City to get the boxes, and they were due here today so it may be awhile before they come back.

Awilda is 3 boxes for $100?????? Did you have to bring them to Corona??? Have you used them before?

Someone had recommended Rosa del Monte shipping, so I told my husband, and he said he knows people who are still waiting for their boxes months later - and others did get their boxes, but someone had gone through them and taken nice items.

So I'm afraid to try a new company!!!!

PS, I just called Awilda in Corona [Queens], NY - (718) 505-9833 - they told me they charge $80 for one box! Where did you ship from William?

OK....
Yes, I have used them many times before.

Price depends on the box.... I had UPS pack for me b/c I was hurrying.... It came to 3 boxes... not that big, not that heavy.
I might have been able to squeeze it down to 2 but..... haste makes waste.
Heck, UPS was $110 to pack and ship to Corona...

I like Awilda b/c they know our neighborhood (Cabrera) and have been reliable in the past.

Example:
My TORO lawnmower.... 81 lbs in its original box.... I buy from Home Depot... who ships it (free) to Awlida who price the shipping at $110.
Awilda ships it before my check gets there.... it arrives in 3 weeks.

Rosa del Monte ships from PHL..... BUT..... they wait until they have full load, so they cannot say when the ship will sail.
Delivery is when/if/maybe sometime soon

Awilda seems to have 1 or 2 sailings a week.

So, your $80 quote was for what.... how big a box? What weight?
They will quote you high unless they see the box.
Are you sure that $80 wasn't a barrel ?
If a barrel... they will strap on a 40lb of dog food for free.... strapped to the barrel top.

anyway.... talk to Jessica and see what you can do...

All of us in Cabrera use them

Refrigerators...... $220 for a used one $320 for a new one
What does that tell you about the system?

Jessica is my contact for her English.... your Spanish will let you talk to anyone there.

Hi William, all the shippers provide their own boxes that are a standard size, and cost a flat fee regardless of how much they weigh. They are smaller than the barrels/plastic drums, maybe 2/3-3/4 the size?? It's three of those that cost $200 [or $75 for one] from most of the carriers. I was thinking you shipped 3 of those for $100, I was ready to pack the car for Corona, haha. [I used to live in Jackson Heights, so I can get to Corona blindfolded]

I probably spoke to Jessica, her English was great. When I told her someone told me they paid $100 for 3 boxes she said "Not from us they didn't!" Of course, we were talking about different size boxes.

Yes, I did pay $100 for those 3 boxes..... I even checked my bank records to verify.
They may be small boxes...... but..... $100... for sure

Good customer discount maybe..... I doubt it ............
They were not standard... were packed by UPS,.... odd sizes

I know those boxes 18x18x24.... nope
