I realize this doesn't answer your question....but have you considered planting cactus?? Longer lasting and creates a border few will cross....

what is chicken wire? this soft meshy thing with small square holes? it will rot away within weeks, not to mention it can be cut with maniucure clips. and dogs rip it apart in seconds.
if you mean metal thingy with large - whats' the word? rhombus? - shaped holes, this too shall rot and a large dog can easily rip it apart, pull it off the ground and lower it down, plants or not. better choice is cement blocks and then wire on the top of that. or blocks all the way. expensive but the best.

My Suggestion?

Get your posts... the local wooden ones and string barbed wire.
Every Dominican worth his salt can do this in no time.

Then plant your vines...... green vinesand prickly wire, all at once.... secure and invisible.

I recently had a quotation from Ferreteria LLibre in Sabaneta for the heavy mesh chicken wire and these are the appropriate costs for a 50ft roll (not sold in part rolls)
Height 3ft. RD$ 3360.60
4ft. RD$ 3528.00
6ft. RD$ 4955.00
