The new installations will serve students from Barahona, Pedernales, Independencia and Bahoruco, and other provinces on the border with Haiti. Students from Haiti are also expected to enroll in the new facility. The facility has 72 classrooms located in six blocks of 12 classrooms each on three levels for a total 18,000 square meters of construction on a 92,000 square meter lot. BARAHONA.- President Leonel Fernandez on Thursday said the Southwest University Regional Center (CURSO) must become the driving force for the Enriquillo region?s development, with projects that contribute to motor its productivity and competitiveness with that zone?s vast resources.

Speaking in the ribbon cutting of the Santo Domingo State University?s new campus in Barahona, built at a cost a cost of more than RD$2.0 billion, Fernandez affirmed that only education can save the country.

He said the country?s development and progress rest on the capacity to promote education as high-priority in the national development agenda. ?We can neither have development, progress, nor wellbeing, if we don?t base it on education.?

Similar to the campus in Puerto Plata. I cannot believe that Leonel was actually in the country.

Imagine if he stood still for 6 months here! Right? But then again... The cash for all those new college's campuses and water treatment plants, plumbing, roads, bypasses, highways, etc... Would not be there to begin with, without the trips in the first place? Right?

I suppose. Why pay for something today when you can borrow against tomorrow? Or ask for a handout from another country. It is the way of the world.

By the way, where is the parking garage?
