In Cabarete, Dominican Republic, Kiteboarding 4 Kids is a successful annual Charity Fundraising Event that was founded in 2009. We are looking for a coordinator to lead this unique community event and direct the volunteer team. The 2012 event starts August 17th with final registration and opening party, and continues all day Saturday August 18th with a kiteboarding competition during the day and a fundraising gala dinner and party that night. This position suits an organized, solution-minded, passionate community member with experience managing teams. This is a part time position with excellent karmic rewards ? a neat opportunity to give back and help disadvantaged people in the Cabarete community.
Reports to: Event Co-founder ? Kee Park
Duties:
? Manage and mentor the volunteer team members. Provide guidance and oversight to ensure tasks are completed on time and to the KB4K standards
? Recruit, train and assign duties to volunteers as required
? Monitor financial aspects, basic accounting
? Operate Microsoft Office programs to produce task lists, reports, media, records, etc.
? Coordinate prize donations including helping to secure donations from sponsors, organizing picking up of prizes, prize allocation planning, organizing safe storage of prizes
? Solicit applications from local children?s charities who would like to receive 2012 KB4K funding
? Problem-solve and help apply new systems and procedures
? Build long-term relationships with sponsors, volunteers, media and community members
? Oversee all KB4K communications to sponsors, media and the community
? Suggest ways to improve the KB4K event and help implement approved ideas
? Any other tasks/assignments as directed by the co-founders
? Weekly reporting to the event co-founders
Working Conditions:
? Position is part-time
? This is a ?work from home? position and requires use of his/her own computer, internet connection and telephone
? There is a possibility to at times work with the LEK team at the kiteboarding school if needed
Employment Requirements:
? Possess a thorough understanding of the Dominican Republic working environment
? Excellent time-management skills and ability to organize work effectively
? Ability to work independently and with little supervision
? 3+ years of increasing responsibilities in management of organizations or events
? Formal education and experience in business, sales, and/or events is required
? Excellent command of the English language in both spoken and written forms
? Any other languages, especially Spanish, is preferred
? Strong understanding of and commitment to philanthropy
? Excellent listening skills
? Hard working with a passion for excellence
? Forward-thinking and following through with each task started
? Shows excellence in work and personal ethics, sets the tone for the team
? Is capable of problem solving and able to handle a variety of challenging situations
? Has a pleasant, friendly, positive and enthusiastic style
