Re: Did Jesse get his way? Boca Chica development

It sounds like my earlier post (http://dr1.com/board/index.cgi?read=54786) about the building of the largest port in the Dominican Republic might not be just gossip.

For those that don't know where the "Caucedo peninsula" is, it is the piece of land that is the west edge of Boca Chica Bay (aka, Bahia de Andres), extending out from the point of land between La Caleta (where the road to Las America Airport connects to Las Americas Highway) and Boca Chica Andres. This is the same strip of land that is rumored to be developed into the largest strip of hotels on the island (on the Boca Chica side).

Re: Did Jesse get his way? Boca Chica development

If this means that Boca Chica, as we know it, will be bulldozed and started all over again, then I say "Great"
The present Boca Chica, although having a beautiful swimming area off the beach, is in the final analysis a dirty, grubby place to go for a vacation
I have said on a previous thread that this is a destination for those seeking sex and no one has challenged this
I would think from my experience in Boca Chica ( and i've gotta lot of experience ) that there is no return visits from couples and families--i wonder why--can it be from all the wanton sexual behaviour that takes place on the beach and downtown--hey-i'm a part of it
Get rid of the hookers, bulldoze the place, and start over--it's a beautiful area with alot of potential but lets do it right

Maybe people see you and your post for what they are. And maybe you didn't read:

Boca Chica is much more than a few bars on Calle Duarte from 1-4am. In fact, thousands of couples and families come to Boca Chica and LOVE it. There is a mix of everything in Boca Chica. Kind of like a mini NYC on the beach. Expensive or cheap, classy or casual, mostly tourists or mostly locals. Tourists from all parts of the world come here. It has a high concentration of excellent restaurants, a fantastic beach, some great big hotels and some really nice small ones. I spent a fantastic day on the beach today and if it hadn't been closed, I would have played a round of golf as well (Los Marlins).

One can find whatever they seek - be it non-stop fun or peace and quiet. The beach is 1.5 miles long from the Marina to the Hamaca and the town of Boca Chica proper extents 1/2 mile to the highway. There are a variety of businesses throughout. What you described hardly defines this town of more than 10,000 people.

Take at look at what you are calling "dirty and grubby". I don't think so:

Noooooooooooo, keep the girls, keep the girls!!!

Sorry I couldn't resist :)

Why are you so critical of BC? You admit going there and having sex, being apart of it and yet you call it a dirty place that should be bulldozed.

I go there for the beautiful beaches, the friendly people, place to kick back and relax and yes I enjoy the fine ladies. But I sure as heck wouldn't spend $400 USD, air and hotel expenses just to have sex with the hookers!! I doubt many others do as well. Sounds to me like you must have had a bad experience once that soured you.

Why are some people always trying to fix something that isn't broken??

not totally true

Although, getting rid of the hookers, wouldn't bother me, I don't let them stop me from enjoying Boca. I have been there maybe 6-8 times, each time with my then girlfriend, now wife. That would make us a "couple".

She lived in SD and Boca is the nearest beach. I enjoy hanging out on the beach at Portofino's, dinner at Neptunos, dancing at the Hamaca, and at one point chilling out listening to Guns and Roses at Route 66.

Now if cleaning uo the town a bit, meant more families and couples would go, rather than just forcing many local businesses to close or struggle such as now, I would vote yes.

Then again one of my favorite hobbie is people watching, and there are definitely some "whacky" people to watch in Boca.
