I meet many young people who are far from stupid. They are well aware of the countrys problems and would like to see change. My question is where is the new (young) shining star of Dominican Politics? Is it just too difficult for an honest, educated young person to rise to the top? Does the corrupt machine have such a grip on things that change will never come? Whats your opinion?

Yes After he finished High School, he returned to his country and started Law Studies in the Universidad Autonoma de Santo Domingo.[2] In the meanwhile, he joined the Dominican Liberation Party upon at its inception in 1973, when former Dominican President Juan Bosch left the Dominican Revolutionary Party (PRD) to create the new party. Fern?ndez was known as a close pupil of Bosch and was presented as a vice-presidential candidate with the latter during the 1994 presidential election.and as u all now one day he became president........

Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. When you are the system it is very difficult not to abuse it, however it is no different in the United States or in Libyia Just remember you could be living in Venezuella or Cuba.
