American accountant in Santo Domingo

I am looking to do a six month stay in the DR to improve my spanish. I am an accountant in (Miami) the US. Is there any chance that I could have a professional life in the DR while I am doing the language school? Is there a market for a us accountant? By the way, what is the best language school in Santo Domingo? Would I be better off teaching english?

If you come here you will be a local hire and get less pay.
"accountants" are a dime a dozen here, and you don't know the local laws, languages or system of double and triple books.
