I just experienced 'sticker-shock' when surfing the internet for car rental prices for 2 months in Santo Domingo.

Earlier this year, we rented a car for 2 months from Avis, and it cost us about $850 per month, about $1700 for the 2 months. I can't remember if it was 'intermediate' or 'full size', I think it was full. Still a pretty small car.

Today I was looking at rates for another 2 months, from mid-Feb to mid-April 2012, and it's almost $1000 more for the 2 months!!

Anyone else have a recent longer term rental in SD at a more reasonable price? Anyone have a car they want to rent us? :)

Two things, first try alamo.com using the discount code YQ, second try a local guy that might be more negotiable.

maybe they are including what the prospective damages will be from two months driving in SD traffic. Even one day there is enough to make me not want to return for a while. Its murderous traffic interspersed with lunatic taxi drivers not to mention the motos.

zoom, we pick up and return the car in SD, but we're rarely actually IN the capital, our house is west of the city in a quiet town.
