Now about electricity there:
what are the voltages (110, 220, 50 cycle, or 60 cycle)?
Are they compatible with U.S. small appliances? for example:
my AC adapter for my digital camera and battery charger, hair dryer, electric toothbrush - or shall we bring an adapter with us for the recepticles? Thanks -Ed, The Man of the House-

110V, same as the US...

Your appliances will work here, it's based on the US system, plugs, sockets etc.

Most of the answers to your questions are in the archives (60,000 messages). I would take the time to sit down and take a good look through them, they have a wealth of information. I'm sure you will even find some answers to questions you hadn't thought of :)

The "Living in Santo Domingo" is also by far the best resource available and covers many topics related to living here.
