Australia to RD

Does anybody have any experience traveling from Sydney to RD?

Through Miami is costly.
I'm thinking of So America - BA or Rio - with a 2-3 day layover in one of those cities.

I will appreciate any help.
Its for my daughter this summer.

I fly with Qantas from Sydney to LA, there was a stop, and then from LA to NY JFK, NY JFK to POP

Yes, we found one that was Sydney to LA - La to MIA and then RD
The return was your route through JFK.
Its about $2800....... Yikes!

FYI... for this holiday we got it down to $2100 R/T Sydney to JFK on Virgin.
The trick to the low price was returning on Jan 1 -- that saved $800+ over flying on the 31st or 2nd.
My daughter squawked, but........:devious:

Start at the wikipedia page of the Sydney airport. You can see that Aerolinas Argentinas flies Sydney to buenas Aires. One of the only south hemisphere to south hemisphere transcontinental flights in the world. There's another flight that stops in S.Africa that I seem to recall.

So in theory, you could then go Sydney - Buenas Aires - Panama - Santo Domingo.

Try the same trick by looking at the Melbourne airport wikipedia page
