I know of a guy who owned a really nice hotel in Boca Chica (maybe some of you know him) and the police came in and raided him and closed him down. Well he went thru all the correct procedures to re-open his bar rest. and then only to have his girlfriend take it leagally, and she goes out with a cop. This man is Canadien and he had or is a resident of the D.R. for a number of yrs. So don't think if you are a foriegner your not going to get bothered. Quite the contrary. He also paid big bucks for a lawyer from the Capital City as well, but even the lawyer could not do anything.
