We are going to Barcelo Capella Beach Resort and need help! How much should we expect to pay for a taxi from Las Americas airport to Barcelo Capella? What are the top 3 things to see in Santo Domingo? Finally, we want to see something of DR other than the resort...should we explore Saona or the countryside? Any recommendations? So excited to see the DR!

You should pay about $20 to $25 for a taxi. Be sure to agree with the driver before you hire the taxi.
I suggest you explore Jaun Dolio on foot or by motorconcho. The town is quite safe day or night. Also take a trip to Boca Chica or San Pedro. Employees of Capella can help you with suggestions and getting taxis for you.

Be sure and go to the "Deli Swiss" in Guayacanes. It has the best wine list in the Caribbean and the chef is totally awesome.

then, there is a little French Inn over in Juan Dolio whose name escapes me. but if you are interested, I can find out. Simple beautiful and very nice food.

Go to the Zoo and the Botanical Gardens
Walk around the Colonial Zone in Old Santo Domingo.
