Today I changed plans from a 1.5 mbps down/ 256kbps up plan to a 4mbps down/ 1mbps up version called VIP Plus Internet 4 mbps. It also includes free local calls and 100 monthly minutes for long distance in the DR and 200 monthly minutes of international calls to select countries.

The new plan should cost me about the same overall as my previous plan. Now if they actually do provide
4 Mbps down I will be surprised. Tomorrow I should find out. Here is a link to the plan:

windeguy, it works. had it for a couple of months now near center of Cabarete.
high def vids stream without additional buffering, file downloads are much faster.
below is a current speed test result. typically download speed is 3.85-4.25, uploads about .70

if your experience is like mine, you'll find it consistent and reliable.
happy surfing

Are you paying $2395 per month? How much after taxes?

Yes it is the $2,395 per month plan. According to my conversation today the price with taxes included is $3.065 pesos. Perhaps CFA123 can confirm this because they have used the plan for several months and have a billing history.

After a delay of one day from when it should have started

After a delay of only one day from when it should have started, my new plan is working, almost.

I am getting about 3.0 mbps download and 0.5 upload speed instead of 4.0 and 1.0 respectively.
So, they will send a technician out to see if that can be brought up to specifications.

I have upgraded to 3 mbps /768 down from 1.5mbps/256kbps.
It was working neatly for couple of days...than Friday to Saturday night in Early morning hour it disconnected and was left without IP, when I connected in the morning the modem was synchronizing at ridiculously low speeds for UPLOAD. I was getting sync at 3.6 mbps down and 32 kbps or 64 kbps UP the whole weekend. Opened the TT with Codetel but still not resolved yet. Sunday evening it came to 96 kbps UP ... most likely a bad port on DSLAM. So...just waiting
