Planning to rent a car? If not, you might want something closer to the highway than was suggested. It is 1 mile from there to the main highway.

They have a frequent shuttle service to town if you need it. Also security is good. Armed guards 24/7.

Las Ca?as is secure but the road into town (over one mile) is not secure for walking, especially at twilight. You would be reliant on a rental car, calling a taxi, or using the Las Ca?as shuttle. More information about the latter, please.

For any Info on Las Canas regarding the Shuttle or anything else you can call 809-571-1522 and ask for Natalie. She speaks both English and Spanish and can help you.

I went to Las Canas today. MASSIVE pool. Smaller rooms than what seemed on internet, (not unusual) but OK. Unfortunately they did not have apartments for long term rent until around mid-March for anybody else that may be following this HOT topic.

Some good prospects here on DR1, as a moderator pointed out. Thanks.

It's a smart idea for your fiancee's brother to first rent a hotel room for a week, visit all of the apartments and ask questions. Some people would prefer different places for different reasons and using the internet for apartment hunting is ok, but is not complete until you "kick the tires", if you know what I mean. Las Canas has many "Pros" as well as "Cons" but to each his own. It is an option.

Thanks for the sage advice. I talked to my fiancee Rosa and we probably will do just that.
