WARNING!!!I was scammed out of $6000 on the rueta game at Sousa Bay Casino.Three other couples were also scammed of over $2000 the same night on Jan 2.The games are rigged by the table operator so that you win alot of points at the beginning of the game, against great odds .You then get suckered into continuing playing. They then take your passport, and hold you captive, and make you go to their ATM at a 10% fee .Are there any other persons that had the same experience? Please contact me, so it can be reported to the embassies.

Was this some sort of Progressive Keno Bull$hit game?
There are numerous warnings on this website and every other travel website.
What exactly is "Rueta"?

PS: You got off lightly, some suckers lose $20K, move on... better than a doctor's bill!

did they force you to play? if not your fault imo

Anyone should expect a night out and have some good HONEST fun without getting scammed.....
Rule of thumb, DON'T get greedy, quit when reasonably ahead.....imo

Met a kid a couple years ago that got taken for $4000. He told us some BS story about being drugged and robbed of his passport (yet they didn't take his iPhone). Turned out the Casino took his passport. One thing I did learn from that incident is that they legally couldn't take his passport. It belongs to the government of the United States. It wasn't his to give.

As pointed out by others, you can't get scammed if you don't play. It is a scam but the Casino can easily say you were unlucky that night.

Why would someone just give their passport to a casino?

Did the casino forcibly take your passport from you?

These casino stories just don't add up. There are huge holes in these so called casino scam stories.

It is a casino, you are going to lose, I've walked out 5grand up once or twice and then managed to put it back, and double over then next month. It doesn't matter when you lose it, the fact is if you don't learn to play a good controllable card game and understand when it is your night to walk away then you are always going to continue to lose, until you quit.

Play a game you understand and have some level of control, or stop crying about the inevitable.

I am curious about that too. I am guessing that once the stakes get to a certain level the casino ask for the passport for suckers to keep playing. Probably when they are still winning.

Giving them the passport is like giving your house deed in Vegas.

This is the Progressive Keno Scam. It has been around forever. There is no way to win, as the ball with the number you need to complete the jackpot is not in the mix when the draw is made.

People get bitter when it sinks in they could have had another 6 weeks vacation for what they have dropped in three hours in some casino. Playing James Bond infront of the poor natives for a few hours isn't really worth it, especially to hear them sniggering at you as they pass you on the street, begging for a beer!
