On Sunday Feb 12 at 3pm in Puerto Plata there will be a unique discussion of the story of the Jews in Sosua told by one of the original settlers as well as a slide presentation of some of the rare artifacts from the museum. During WWII one of the few places that Jews could find refugee was in the DR. In the 1940s the DR accepted Jewish refugees who were settled in the swampy areas of an abandoned banana plantation in Sosua. Somehow against all odds they carved out a city and established a cheese and bread industry. Few of those families are still in the area so this is a unique opportunity to hear from one of the few remaining. It is being hosted by The Meeting Place, calle Juan Bosch 60, Puerto Plata.
