Tides on North Coast

The surf today was incredibly rough just east of Cabarete. Huge swells. Incredible stuff. Anyone know why? Any good sources for information on the tides, charts, forecasts for north coast tides out there? Thanks, jjn

Simple, storms out in the Atlantic create larger swell's, hence larger surf.

Cabarete has a well known reputation for excellent surfing and Cabarete Beach itself is known world wide for kite surfing. What makes it so great for kite surfing is the direction of the strong afternoon breeze and the directional layout of the beach such that the wind direction is perfect. Big surf is quite common. From time to time tourist drown.
