The "House Hunters International" segment from 7:30-8 PM segment tonight was about a couple from Toronto buying a house in Sosua.

Know if it was a new episode or repeat?

My guess is an old one. Haven't seen any new ones in the D.R. in a while... the Admiral and I always check what's playing, and watch all the ones in the Caribbean, and some of the others too. Have seemed to be concentrating on Europe and a few in Asia lately, although there was a repeat of an episode in St. Croix V.I. the other day.

I watched it. It looks like it originally aired in July 2011. Funny, in the show, they misspelled the town names of Cabarete and Sabaneta. First house was close to the ocean on the outskirts of Sabaneta.

The second place was a condo, on Allejo Martinez, in Sosua, about two blocks down from Profeta mercado, heading towards town. I walked by that building practically everyday on my last trip to the DR, I always thought it was an apartment building, and not a condo complex.

Third house was on the outskirts of Sosua, towards Charamicos......that was a nice little place and that's the house they bought for $209,000.

One place I'll have to visit in the future is Ecuador.....I've seen shows on HGTV where people have gotten an unbelievable house on the beach for $200,000......cost of living and electricity are really cheap in Ecuador, too..............

If you go to Ecuador, make sure you visit Salinas Island. I spent some time in Ecuador a few years ago. It is very hot there, so you really need to be near the Ocean. Salinas is a very nice spot. By the way the currency there is the US Dollar.

I believe I saw the show a while ago.

About the shows in Ecuador, it is true that they seems to have good deals, but I found the beach towns they show incredibly ugly (from what I have seen in HGTV of course).

The people featured in this show bought and are operating a recreational vehicle rental company in Sosua by the name of "Pioneer Motors." Saw one guy I knew from Platinum gym inquiring about a motorcycle rental during this segment of this show.

According to my DVR, this is episode number #349, aired July 14, 2011.

The couple that appeared in that episode explained to me how it was all done. They had actually purchased the house months before and then HGTV called them to do the program. They had to basically empty their house and act surprised as they visited it.

This is true--We were on House Hunters Int'l almost 4 yrs ago AFTER we bought a house here in Las Terrenas-- It was a great time...they first filmed us at our home outside Louisville, Kentucky and we then filmed 5 days here in LT with our then-realtor, Dan Hussmann (present owner of Big Dan's Polar Bar)--
