I live in Santiago
I am moving to the DR and I have some belonging I want to bring. Books, hobbies, Motor Cycle. Does anyone have a suggestion for how to do that. I plan to live in Cabrera. Apt then house.

I am retiring from the US (Ohio).

Thanks, Tom

It is best to do this as far as costs to you during the proper time of getting residency when personal items are exempt from duty. Otherwise you will pay dearly. You will probably need legal help in doing this properly. You can bring in a contaianer or partial container tax exempt, for the most part.

Lots of material on this..... search the engine.

Windeguy is right... get planning the residency and life will be a lot easier - and cheaper.

You just get a freight forwarder and talk to Hispaniola Freight on the RD end.

I used Benchmark Export... 610-521-9100 (Stepanie)

Any Export company or Freight Forwarder will do.
The key is the RD end - Hispaniola Freight was mine.

I don't think you need to get residence card, you just need a paper that says your residency document is in process. I heard it takes 3+ weeks to get that paper so talk to lawyer on the processing time and add extra couple of weeks for DR' s well known delays.
