ahh, no big deal these days anywhere, we are unfortunately drifting into a lifestyle where shooting people and being shot is no more dramatic than a dose of the measles, it's actually quite boring these days, and I've lost complete interest in how many peopleare shot, how, why, when by, who, because of.......................just more shot people, no big deal to anyone other than the guy with a few holes in him.
Paradise, hahahhahahaha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Are you trying to be funny or using some kind of unique wit.

Either way, you sound like a prat!

I'm not trying anything, I am obviously accomplishing showing how little shock such things leave in me these days, it is every day life in the DR, what do you want, tears every time these reports come out, flowers and a moment of silence. No one has been killed, so no big deal, it is forgotten about already.
If you need a shoulder to cry on every time a violent crime goes down in DR then move, coz your life is going to be frinkin miserable as sin (infact you are probably already over waters no?. It is how it is, and it isn't going to change, possibly only for the worse, it has nothing to do with me so why should I be bothered, the bright side is they survived which is great, I am pleased bout that.

So you think I'm a prat, that is no problem for me coming from someone who appears to have abnormal emotions for people he has never even heard of, have a sob about it and then get on with it laddy, I'll putmoney on it another coupleof expats get killed this month somewhere. Someone getting shot in DR is not big news, so button it with the names, I've been living with it and around it for to many years now, I think it would take a big ass bomb to get my heart pumping or even slightly concerned about a shooting. Someone got shot, 'Oh bad luck, sh1t happens in the DR, we all know that',or at least I thought we did.
Anyway, don't have nightmares:tired:

sorry to tell you but comments like "Paradise" or "its everyday life in DR" are quite childish. Killings, robbings have no direct relation with DR or "paradise". Just check crime statistics in most countries. You'll see its quite the same everywhere and in some regions much worse...

Firstly,if you have something worth saying then there is no need to apologize before making a statement, you are agreeing with me. You are denying killing and robbing is not an every day happening in the Dominican Republic? when in fact it is, and you know fine well it is, so what is your point? My referral to Paradise is tongue in cheek humour, although like I've said before, some of you guys need an upgrade in that department.
As for the rest of your pointless post, I am not interested in other statistics in other countries as this site is about DR1, so that for this site is where my interest ends and topics of conversation are directed. No one ever said anything about comparrissons with other countries, simply that violent crime and murder is a daily happening across the Dominican Republic and so these days does not even affect my train of thought in any way, what may have shocked me many years ago, simply bores me these days. People are shot and killed, robbed and raped all over the world every day at every moment of the day, it is sad.
Right,,,,,,,, now I've given that all my 2 seconds of thought lets get on with my own life and more important things.
So please, before you enter the room of conversation, make sure you come in the correct door and get hold of the clean end of the stick, because in this instance you seem to have come around the back and grabbed the end of the stick with the dirt and got my opinion and point absolutely wrong. So maybe your initial apology is not so misplaced after all.

Good day!

Exactly, thats why I started with an apoplogy...
But you didn't get my point. Iam not denying what you said: I just said robbings and killings happen everywhere, all the time. The way you (and many others) mention these kinds of facts, especially refferring to paradise is a way to negatively connect DR with some kind of terrible criminal situation. Which is false and contribute to an absurd feeling of fear. But that's your point of view and your way to present it. Then, on a forum, I guess I can give my opinion, which is more objective... :)

The disturbing aspect is the perps did a drive-by, telling a moving vehicle to stop...and, as few would, they didn't...they were shot and subsequently crashed into a truck.

Seems pretty bold to me.

I have no doubt they were singled out, somehow, as easy marks.

There was a similar warning about this type of event on Sosua News - Feedback :
16 March 2012
just a reminder, dont stop on the highway for anyone unless its police in a marked vehicle with lights and id, was stopped in feb by four men claiming to be police in a white car. they had pistols, jipeta following i was alone had just left a bar near the europa hotel about midnight to drive back to puerto plata was told my rental car was stolen. i was put in back of my car, handcuffed with plastic ties all my possessions taken, driven 5 km south of imbert and dumped in the country, in the sugar cane, left with nothing but my clothes and my life. freed my ankles, walked to imbert where the police were very good, drove me back to puerto plata and my apartment there, got my id and then spent a couple of hours in the police station in puerto plata making out reports. the robbers were caught two weeks later, turns out there were seven members stealing cars and selling them in haiti. four of them were ex-police officers. car was never found, also make sure you get good insurance coverage on your rental car by

I live here.

sorry to tell you but comments like "Paradise" or "its everyday life in DR" are quite childish.
Childish?
A lot of people refer to the Dominican Republic as "paradise"; even DR1 members (who do know better... ;) ).

Killings, robbings have no direct relation with DR or "paradise".

Even if they happen here in the Dominican Republic????

Just check crime statistics in most countries. You'll see its quite the same everywhere and in some regions much worse...

Yes, please do compare the crime statistics worldwide.
[Of course, it is not the same everywhere. The Dominican Republic has one of the highest violent death rates (about 26 per 100,000 inh. by GOVERNMENT statistics!)

I am really :tired: to be told how bad it is elsewhere.
I live here.

I was close to where that happen in Montellano, same time, lucky it wasn t us. I usually take fews relaxes hours in parks playing with my kid. 3 weeks back if i don t make mistake they killed a woman on that main street at night. She had sold a car and kept the money of the sale. Probably it came to be known by some people. It is sad to be on the red alert where you walk.
It was safer 25 years back :):)

according to the article, one person was shot while they were driving (because they didn't stop), and then robbed after the car crashed? Is my translation correct?

If you live in a place where you don't feel able to go out at night then I personally think you are here because you can't leave. Being prisoner to your own home is a sad state of affairs!
