Found this review on trip advisor dated 3/24:
I checked into the hotel to which i thought the bad reviews was overexaggerated as I am an easy to please person and was not expecting much for the price. After 3 days a letter was put under all the doors saying we had to vaccate the premises as they were closing and did not care we was left with no where else to go. they were unhelpful and it was a discrace we was given no notice at all....it was just a big shock. Even when the hotel was open the standards were really low every for 3* the food was unedibale and even the a la carte menus were disguishing! Even if this hotel reopens do not stay in this cannot be improved over night!

I think the prob is the place is just too outdated to compete with the newer AIs. Too many small rooms and not enough higher end suites. Some of the smaller hotels have studios just as nice if not better now. Who would be their demographic now?

The Christians that donate their time to rebuild Sosua and the community !

Give them a $5 coupon to visit the casino and maybe they will bite !

i think the smaller non AIs is part of their downfall. New Garden, Terra Linda and others have better rooms, allow guests  and are close to nightlife. sosua is not a family town for vacation and will never be.
i wonder now what that will do for Victoria House next door and the casino ? will there be security to protect the property as looting surely will occur through the beach entrance.
WOW.......

The current guy leasing the place is pulling out March 31, he is in receivership. Armando will then take the place back and re-lease it. Rent is USD 20k/month.

Depends on who and what corporation you bought timeshare from. Usually it is a third party who contracts for space at he hotel. You have to determine if they are still viable. In the DR timeshare owners are non-equity owners. So in he event of bankruptsy, they are unsecured creditors, or in other words, sh*t out of luck.

yes this true!! but i just stayd there for over 2 months, and ive heard all the complaints you could here, from food sucks!! to no towels...to i got robbed from the cleaning ladies...which also is true!!!

but my interpetation of the non payment of the workers n bills was because the owner had made deals with travel-agents that dont pay untill 2-3 months later... what must have happened is they got so many conplaints, they didnt pay.... or.... they did, and the owner just went down south with it.... truth be told, before this new owner took it over about 1 yr ago, the resturants were better food quality and the drinks did have some high end bottles...the workers did get paid!!

this new guy was just in it to make as much as he could and run away after the lease was up.... now it up to arrmando to either clean it up again or re-lease it to some other shmuck...

yes this would be true, if arrmando re-opens under a different corp from that he sold it from, because as i said, he did sell many timeshares to the first 20 or so people..... and then he leased it out to the new owner, who had to honor the previous deals.... now if arrmando does go out of his way to open up under a different corp???? to specific-ly shake-lose of his previous obligations..... i cant see how this would be good for bussiness??? which in return would loss him the customers anyway... so my guess is.... in his best interest to make nice to the timeshare owners or loss what little clientel he did have.....

Better to have 10 hotels with 20 rooms than one hotel with 200 rooms. In my experience, the smaller hotels are better maintained and they take better care of you.

@Tibby - I would not listen to anybody about this mess except Armando, and you know his deal. Perhaps you will get lucky with this.
Maybe it is time to find a new spot?
