Hello everyone,

How long will it take to find an unfurnished apt. in Santiago for rent and set up utilities?

Can anyone familirize me with the process?

Thank you all in advance!

How long is a piece of string?

With a US$3000 a month, I'm sure quicker than a US$500 month budget.

What sector? What utilities? What budget? etc....

Come down here and start looking for apartments. Once you find one review the contract and if it doesn't have unitlies you will need to open an account.

water, sewer CORAASAN
power Ednorte
phone, internet Claro or Orange

If you are going to use public transportation try to get an apt close to the main avenues.

Guys,

Thank you for the helpful advice.

Looking in the Villa Olga area, budget is 600 USD.

Do unfurnished apts come with utilities?

I'd PM Hillbilly. He has a furnished apartment, that comes with utilities, that's right on budget. He's also been there forever and knows everybody, which is a priceless contact.

Be advised that rental apartments, for the most part, come with 4 walls and nothing else. No refrigerator, no stove, nothing but a sink. That said, $600 should find you a very nice empty apartment.

$600 for an apartment in Villa Olga is plenty. Unless you want a penthouse. But like JuanB says, you'll need to put everything in it - if you're lucky, you might find one with a water heater.

Guys,

Thank you for all the help.

Once the apartment is found, what is the turn around time for the utilities-setting up the electricity, etc?
