I say the mushrooms also is a highway robbery. Last time I was visiting DR I had small BBQ party and I was going to grill some mushrooms along with some ribeyes. I went to Jumbo to buy and I was totally shocked how expensive it was.

* any exotic fruits, that is the very same one that my parents bring home by buckets: strawberries, cherries, peaches and so on.
* middle shelf cosmetics like nivea, garnier, l'oreal. back home i can have them at 1/3 of a dominican price and they will be always on offers: buy one get one free, buy two get the chapest free and so on.
* quality price clothing or shoes that never ever, somehow, seem to go on sale. maybe because the most generous sales in DR offer 10-25% off of some dirty old rags that must have past donkeys digestive sytems three times in a row.

In order of what surprises me the most about prices, these three items immediately come to mind:

1.) Russian girls
2.) Ukranian girls
3.) Norwegian girls

For the life of me, i'll never understand how these girls from these countries cost so much here. inexplicable...especially since i live in Norway part of the year and know the value of beaver.

If you add the cost of Canadian girls to the equation, the average of the prices will drop significantly.:smoke:

think of it like that: a canadian woman is like a filet mignon that pays you to eat it. and then sponsors you to canada.

dv8 is showing her mettle.... a deviate
giving us lots of lip.

Some are just beginning to get it....

I know you are joking, but still a rather rude thing to say. My amazon Canadian nieces would kick your ass over a comment like that.

coming back to the subject at hand, of overpriced items in DR:
* anything european, really, apart from some willing ladies but we can hardly call them items as such, i think.
* some household appliences that never seem to root themsleves in the dominican reality: electric kettle, vacuum cleaner. mind you, dominicans generally do not have carpets and will only drink tea at the verge of death and then it would be a thick concoction of herbs and... some... other things...
