From today's Sosua News:
[h=5]The past two days Sos?a has again been plagued by heavy tropical rains. Again, the streets were flooded. In many places like Super Super, Europa Hotel and the entrance to the Casino Playa Chiquito, the water stood half a meter high.[/h][h=5]Again, residents in Maranatha, Sos?a Abajo and Bella Vista have been badly affected by floods because the river burst its banks again. Many houses are flooded again. Fortunately, the residents had taken precautions because they moved their furniture and furnishings to the church for safety. But the houses have suffered a lot from the recurrent rains in recent weeks. And of minor importance, also the dance contest last Friday night in the Gran Velero Bar Disco was canceled due to rain. It seems that the climate is totally confused. Many residents of Sos?a say they cannot remember it has rained so often and heavy.[/h]

Too soon to start worrying. More than likely, if there is a rain, it will be short lived. I live here and look at the weather quite often and know that there are few days when a chance of rain is not reported. Maybe of those days there may be rain somewhere, but not where I am. Puerto Flata, for example, gets rain more often than Sosua.

Ken is right. Many afternoons, here in Sosua, I look at the beach and there are cloudless blue skies. Then, I look on the other side of my building in the apartment complex, and the skies look like I should be taking immediate cover.

Usually, the rains come in the evenings and nights. The early mornings begin to clear, and after that, all is well.

Now, of course, the weather can change at any given moment. But for Sosua, that is how it has been for the recent past.
