My family and I will be traveling during the end of June to the Dominican Republic. We want to stay in an all inclusive hotel either in Juan Dolio, Bayahibe or La Romana. We want to enjoy both, the pool and a nice beach. Any specific hotel recommendations? Thank you in advance!

In La Romana, probably Iberostar Bayahibe and Be Live Canoa. These two trump other hotels in the area east of Santo Domingo and west of Higuey.

If you want the best in AI food and service add the AI package to your hotel stay at Casa de Campo. About $150/day/person over the regular hotel rate, about $300/day/person if you include golf to the AI. Not for those watching a budget, but well worth it, especially if the boss is picking up the tab.

Dreams La Romana (in Bayahibe) calm, crystal clear water, snorkeling from the beach (next to the pier), nice beach & pools (one infinity), good quality alcohol, great kids club, no plastic wrist bands, no reservations needed for a la cartes (they give you a beeper if it's busy), food is above average (non of these AIs are gourmet), faces west so great sunsets, 5 minute walk into nice little fishing village of Bayahibe (safe, clean, restaurants, bars, giftshops, supermarket etc).

Other AIs 5 minutes taxi ride away in Dominicus: Iberostar Hacienda, Viva Wyndham Dominicus Palace, Viva Wyndham Dominicus Beach, BeLive Canoa, Catalonia Gran Dominicus.

The Vivas have the liveliest nightlife (popular with Italian guests). Iberostar Hacienda is considered a close second to Dreams service/standard wise. Beach at Dominicus is longer than at Dreams, water is clean and clear, but can be slightly less calm than at Dreams as the coast is more exposed there.

Bayahibe is a popular diving destination and the launch spot for boat rides to Saona, Catalinita and Catalina Islands.
15 minutes from La Romana airport (LRM), 90 minutes from Punta Cana (PUJ) and Santo Domingo (SDQ) airports.

btw Casa de Campo resort is a shuttle ride away from their beach at Playa Minitas. And the pool is rather small.
