A robbery occurred today, around 1:15 PM, near Ocean Point 2 on Kite Beach, Cabarete. If you are looking for trouble and a whack on the head with driftwood, or worse, then walk to the West of Ocean Point 2 where the beach is deserted. DON'T EVER WALK TO THE WEST OF OP2!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

An elderly man required stitches after being hit on the head just a few feet West of OP2. He and his wife were robbed of watches, passports, cash and earrings.

If you are a jogger and are going to go that way despite the warning, at least don't take your iPod. Obviously, that makes you much more of a target.

Well, there are a few threads on the go right now that contradict how life was years ago. It used to be said that in general people had to act like idiots or get involved in something seedy to end up on the wrong end of a bad situation. Basically, people asked for what they got.
It seems more and more that this is less and less the reason these days. The probability of being in the wrong place at the wrong time is getting higher every year.

Or maybe I'm just getting old and easily concerned. Although I must say I have rarely felt threatened in any situation, but have had to get myself out of situations before by reacting first. I think I am getting old.:chinese:

I'm more relaxed in my little country village, in the rain where thieves don't even come out it is that cold and wet!:cheeky:

Well, right now it is everywhere, cloudy and raining, I think everyone is starting to think if Usain Bolt is going to have to break the 100 meter record against full force of the wind and rain in his face... !?

Olympic committee members are ****ting themselves, why did we ever award it to London !?!?!? LOL, most unpredictable weather on the planet in this little island...

I do not agree on that **** that life in small village is safer. Gangs from the cities are comming to villages to investigate nice houses to do later on their crimes ! Since there is no cops it is a relax job for them. Keep your copeta not far away.

Very relaxed living, nothing really exciting happens other than Friday fish and chip night. We did have the Raoul Moet manhunt ending here a couple of years ago, but I was still living in the Republic then. Nope, I like it because you can leave the door open, your car open, everyone knows everyone and it is a good community spirit.

But, in the process of buying in Bulgaria at the moment so we will be offski soon to tackle another project, renovate another house or two and live in another world for some years. Maybe the Republic can sort itself out over the coming years, enough for us to feel excited when we have to visit, or even go back to live, we'd like to if it could get its act together. Right now, it's not an attractive place to live, the balance is on the negative side.

If you truly want a good workout, jog down the beach with your shotgun held at port arms. It's a terrific workout for your arms, back, shoulders and legs. Should anyone attempt to accost you, you'll have the opportunity to practice shooting at moving targets in almost a true combat simulation. How exciting!!

(oh, yeah, I'm an American and believe in being fully armed!)

Let's say to stop by Caribe Express to change money on their way back? Because passports are the only ID they have? Because they needed an ID to rent something? To pay with a credit card at the grocery store?

So soon there will be a Bulgarian forum you'll be posting on many times a day bitching and moaning about Bulgaria once you find out you can't tolerate it there either and move back to the U.K. again?

No but the wheels that drive the country are crooked, as I said! Try harder buddy. And I have left, the country is not a prison and there are no medals for staying in a country when you could be happier elsewhere. Simple:cheeky:

You left, but seem to spend hours a day here on DR1. If I left a place that I found as distasteful as you find DR, I wouldn't be doing that.
