Dominikanische Republik: Barahonas Kuesten sind kontaminiert

Google transalation
During the campaign, called Max Puig, nor that it appoints the Barahona to Hauptstadt for ecotourism.

And what is the reality? The pearl must have to be black, as are the coastal waters. Instead of Environment and Conservation makes headlines with one sewer. The waste water flow into the provincial capital of Barahona untreated into the Caribbean Sea. Since Barahona is located in a bay (Bahia de Neyba), this environmental crime is not without consequences. The sea washes away the filth of the coasts and the water is contaminated.

Ecotourism and sewer does not fit together really working and there is loud CODIA (Dominican College for Architects, Civil Engineers and Land Surveyors) is that the sewage treatment plant of Barahona does not work. Back in 1987 it has started construction of this plant, then under the direction of the long-dead engineer Romulo Vallejo Pradel. Connecting Ing Fernando Martinez continued the building. Even based on the date you now see where the fault lies. At that time, was calculated from the Klaeren effluents of 24,000 residents. In reality, there are 90,000, almost four times.

The treatment plant was never put into operation allerdins. Shortly after completion, there was already a failure and was adjusted to operate it immediately. Since then, INAPA (National Institute of drinking water) to change absolutely no interest in this situation. Not only do the people complain of the lack Klaerwanlage, including environmental activists and tourism entrepreneurs in particular. Especially for the hoteliers on the coast of Barahona, the state is unsustainable, tourists must warn you here basically in front of the bathroom in the Caribbean Sea.

Would rather be silent and can only be glad that there are few tourists, the "Pearl of the South" look. It is this region a natural gift, but as a result of bad planning by the people now also highly endangered. The muddy waters are not only a health risk for humans but also a great danger for the survival of flora and fauna.

And you think that is only the case for the coast/ beaches around Barahona? Any beach close to a bigger town in the DR is contaminated, Juan Dolio, Boca Chica, Playa Dorada, Costambar, Cofresi etc. There are no waist water treatment plants in San Pedro, Puerto Plata nor Santo Domingo. I am getting ready for Mr. P's spin attacks...

LOL! DON'T swim in Barahona at the Cayo or at Costa Larimar Hotel beach. About 50 yards down from it there is a creek that drains raw sewage into the ocean. The manglares are also chock-full of trash, and the beaches (in town) are strewn with medical waste.
