A bit outside of Cabrera in Rio San Juan is Hotel Bahia Blanca. Basic but huge rooms with excellent views directly on the ocean...Doubles for around $35 USD. Ive stayed there several times. Decent oceanview restaurant with good breakfast onsite.

Your best bet will be a rental .. casa.

At the risk of DavidZ splattering me w/ over-ripe fruit - skip the bahia Blanca.
I have had no luck there even trying to get a lunch to enjoy their view.

VRBO and other sites will be a good start.

Basically, there are no alternatives/comparables to La Catalina..... yet.

Hi Taylor, there are a couple of basic/cheap options by the waterfront in Cabrera, less than a 10 minute walk from downtown. They are roughly $25 USD a night and have a little kitchenette. We've used them for family and friends before and they are just fine... with a spectacular view!! There is another slightly nicer one in town, which I can't remember the name of but it has a pool and a bar (possibly restaurant) and is roughly $50 USD a night. None of these options have websites but I could try to get you some phone numbers if you like the sound of any of them.
