Very rare, in my opinion. The average Dominican believes in God, regardless of what they call Him or how they worship Him.

If I had a dollar for every time I've heard a Dominican say "Si Dios Quiere" [our "God Willing"], I'd be independently wealthy.

It's a well known phenomena that in poorer or less educated countries people are more religious than in more developed countries. Main reason is that religion helps people cope with daily life which is usually not that easy e.g. here in the DR. It just makes people feel better and helps them to forget the never ending problems. Therefor, almost no atheism in the DR.
