Does anyone know about how much I should pay for a used Loncin 90 cc 2007 scooter?

Does anyone have a used scooter for sale around Rio San Juan 2000-2007 in good running order?

I am hoping to buy a scooter too. I plan to be there for 4 months this winter and thought it mite be a good way to get around. But then I read all the posts about highway robbery and my opinion on this option is evolving. There is one of these local posters that has a couple of scooters for sale. I'm sure she will see your post and respond.........good luck

Just buy a new one for $1000 U.S

I have 7000 + highway and local miles for the last 5 years and have never been robbed but then again I do not live around Rio San Jaun

I just checked the map and am wondering why you would live in the Barrio districts.

IMO, the Chinese bikes didn't really get better quality-wise overall until 2009-2010...

I have one... a 2007 model if I'm not mistaken. bought it as one of those buy online / drop ship deals here in the U.S. I wasn't expecting much, but have been pleasantly surprised. After a little research, I found that there were some beginnings of improvement even then, depending on which factory they were made in.

Over all... the basic mechanics have been good, the secondary stuff a little less so. Needed to put on new mirrors, (plastic ball joint failed), fasteners for the tupperware were crap... replaced with new bolts, stuff like that.

If you buy a Chinese scooter:
1... do a complete "dealer prep" service (details can be found online)
2... replace all fluids (part of the prep)
3... tighten and use thread lock on all nuts, bolts and screws (part of the prep) ESPECIALLY ON EXHAUST (notorious problem)
4... replace crap spark plug with a good one, (although mine shipped with a good one as original)
5... IF you buy a carburetor model (fuel injected would be much better), replace the auto choke (notorious problem).
6... do a valve adjustment (easier than it sounds with basic mechanical aptitude)
7... expect to replace the crap battery pretty soon, but use it until it dies.

My scoot, (was for my daughter at school / never really got comfortable with it), sits for months on end... sometimes many months... and starts right up each time.

If I could stuff it into my suitcase, I'd bring it down to Punta Cana with me and leave it at the condo. LOL

You're probably a lot better off just buying a new one when you arrive. Once you're ready to leave, you can sell it and get a big chunk of your investment back.

Good luck, have fun, and remember to at least wear a good helmet, sleeves and jeans.

Pappatera in Gasper Hernandez....probably the best prices on the NC.....LOL $1700 for a new one....LOL.... get rid of this young guy as he is trying to rip you off, and his scooter isn't worth $600 either

"Scooter" is generic.

Some scooters cost well over RD$100,000 and are rock solid. Some scooters are two-wheeled clown cars.

$1700 may or may not be a good price, same as $600.

No they don't, but if you are looking, there are a couple of places that sell used scooters in Gasper Hernandez, also a salesman there probably knows of someone who has one used for sale.....

If it was me I would put in a little bit more money and buy me a used car, even if it's really old you're still rolling on four wheels. There's a reason why Dominicans call scooter drivers "Muerto ahorita".
