A lovely illustrated new book is out on the Colonial City. Its editors are Colonial City resident Nelia Barletta and her sister in law Francine Lama. It captures the essence and secrets of the real Colonial City. Included are rarely seen interiors of many homes of the wealthy who live in the Colonial City. It even inspires us all to grab the camera and go take pictures of the details and the people! There is a mood and passion in the selection of pictures and the content, prose and poetry, used in this portrait of the Colonial City.
Profits of the book go to the worthy cause of the Fundacion Abriendo Camino, an extraordinary project in a slum area of Santo Domingo. The children learn public-speaking, take drama lessons, art and even get sales courses, plus the usual. See http://www.abriendocamino.org.do/
The book is for sale at Quinta Dominica, Calle Padre Billini 202, Tel 809 687-5944 in the Colonial City, Santo Domingo. Or call 809 735-3258 or email ciudadcolonialsd@gmail.com
Here are some of the photos. But it is the story told by all of the 162 photos, that makes this an outstanding photography book.
