Hello,

how does one go about publishing a book in the Dominican Republic? What are the options? Does anyone have publishing contacts?

Does anyone have experience publishing a book in the DR and can share the steps?

If your book is in Spanish and the target market is the Dominican market, there are several publishing houses - Alfaguara, Alfa y Omega, Taller, Buho, etc. but it would be a long shot for them to publish something on merit (literary quality combined with marketablity) and take on the costs.

If you want to self-publish many will also prepare and print the book for you - but at a cost. These include Corripio, Diario Libre, Amigo del Hogar. The latter is church-run and they vet the subject matter to ensure it doesn't conflict with their values, i.e. they won't be the first choice for printing the Dominican version of 50 Shades of Grey. :)

Otherwise online self publishing is the cheapest and best option with sites like lulu.com which have made it easy for many a budding writer to get into print.

There has been another person who wrote a book awhile back they were pushing here called Freaky Ass Questions About the Dominican Republic or something like that.
:D
Amazon.com: Expat FAQs: Moving to and Living in the Dominican Republic (9781907498725): Ginnie Bedggood, Ilana Benady: Books was published on merit by a UK/Netherlands based publisher, Summertime Publishing, specialising in books aimed at the expat market.

It was initially submitted to and accepted by Bookshaker, which was the publisher during the editing and production phase, with Summertime doing the marketing and promotion, but then Summertime took over all aspects of the expat segment of their list, which covers a broader range of non-fiction subjects. Summertime also covers expat-themed fiction.
