Electric Dehumidifiers

Never have seen them, but then again haven't really searched for them. Are these appliances available in the country? In particular on the north coast. Thanks.

A dehumidifier is basically a freezer with no doors on it. The cooling coil condenses humidity for a period of time then shuts off and the ice collected melts into a catch bin. Unless you have a tightly sealed room, they can run forever and barely put a dent in the humidity. Air conditioners are more efficient by making the rooms cooler and lowering the amount of moisture the air can hold.

I am aware of what different appliances are capable of and intended for. I am looking for humidity reduction maintenance only in a relatively small enclosed area. I have lived in hot humid areas in the U.S. where these appliances did a wonderful job at reducing humidity in large basement/ cellar areas.

aircond works better and cools room to boot. two birds wi 1 stone. dehumidifiers burn as much elec as ac.
