From today's DR1 News..... [I keep waiting for this to come to our town, but not holding my breath.]

More people have 24-hour power

The Public Electricity Corporation (CDEEE) has announced that in the last four months an additional 50,000 clients have 24-hour electricity, including homes, businesses and institutions.

The executive vice president of CDEEE, Celso Marranzini, said that the process had improved the quality of life of citizens and made it easier for the development and operation of businesses. The 50,000 clients who now have 24-hour power are located in the provinces of Hato Mayor and El Seibo (23,000 and 17,000 respectively) and Las Guaranas in Duarte province (3,200).

There are also 6,808 clients in the Edesur area, specifically in parts of the National District and Santo Domingo, where there is also lighting in the streets and parks.

Yes, but for how long was it off?

At our house it's not uncommon to have electricity for only 10 hours a day. Some days it's not on long enough to fully charge our batteries, which is why we added the windmill to help with that. We got so frustrated that we bought a second inverter with 4 batteries.

I think those on the CDEEE network pay the same basic rate of 4.44. However those will private suppliers I assume pay more. Remember it is not just the rate, it is how fast the meter goes! According to my sources in the electricity company, meters in upmarket areas go faster than those in poorer areas. No idea if that is true!

I am being charged 12 pesos per kw here in a condo. not very happy about that. am planning to take a look at the meter over the next couple of weeks and calculate my usage. I know from living here before how much i use moneywise, around 1500 to 2000 pesos per month with an invertor also.....

Here is what the EDE's charge now

Here is what the EDE's charge:

0 to 200 kWh at RD$4.44
201 to 300 kWh at RD$6.97
over 400 kWh at RD$10.98

The more you use, the higher the rate.

if you go over 700 kWh in one month all of the power is charged at $RD10.98

hmm 276 kw at 12 pesos per kw.......... it will be interesting to see next month as it will be less than 200 units for sure.

kurzeja inversiones puerto plata..... are they intermediates or just provide the generator?

We live in a "24" Zone and have 24 hour power.

Of course, we supply 3 hours per day of our own...:cheeky:

Every two days the electricity goes out here, and it's always for 4 hours, since I'm supposed to have 24 hour electricity, I call the company, they always tell me there's a "disparo".
