Walked down to the park by the Waterfront Restaurant this afternoon, first time in a couple of months. I was very surprised to see the Bahia Nueva condo project going next to the waterfront on the same side of the street.

German investor....great location....starting at 159,900 they say.
Best thing, they're planning elevators. Smart move.

I believe that if a building is 4 stories or less, no elevator is required - but if 5 stories or more, DR law requires an elevator.

i think that generally there is a law regarding the height of the buildings in DR, especially here on the north coast. and elevator surprises me, i suspect there aren't many of those here!

There is one in the casino in Sosua. The building has 3 floors and underground parking. They have trouble keeping it running, however.

i am sure there are elevators of some sort in hospitals in POP too, maybe even some hotels. but still, majority of folks here on the north coast have never seen such a feat.

Dominicans love elevators it's less work

Elevator locations that I know
in POP

Bornugal y Gregorio Hernandez clinics, La Sirena, Ocean World, The POP Airport, Playa Naco in Playa Dorada used to have one but who knows if it works now and Scotia Bank across from Supermercado Tropical

Hotel Sosua by the Sea has an elevator since it was first built.

Remember there are a few older folks retiring and purchasing condos...they know that is always possible to break a leg, have a bad knee, have something heavy to move upstaris etc and an elevator would be most useful.
