I'm staying in Sosua and will probably be here for quite some time. Its my 5:th trip to the DR so I am not totally new but it always feels better to be with someone when going partying in more distant places than the "strip" in Sosua where I mostly go now :tired:

I usually try to find more local places with latin music at least as that is what I like the most as well as latin dancing.

I'm a guy from Sweden in my mid thirties. I speak english and also a fair amount of spanish.

PM me if interested and maybe see you around ;)

So it's fair to say you like it down there? Can you give me your opinion on Sosua, where good places to stay are? I'm thinking of coming down and have been researching on my own.

Thanks

Well Sosua can easily get boring but there are still stuff like cheap prices for everything and a great beach as well.

But yeah one of the best things about Sosua is it is easy to get away from here lol. So I oftenly stay in Cabarete and Puerto Plata as well as other nearby places....

A good, solid wingman is difficult if not impossible to come by.

Quite a few expats won't qualify, as I've met too many who were either too old, too distasteful, too full of shiit, or had nothing in common with to share what I consider to be a good time.

Friends from back home either don't speak any Spanish, don't have the time/money to travel, are too cheap or too chickenshiit to venture out to places they've "heard" were dangerous.

Mind you, the average commentary when this topic arises is from others who've never been to the DR, but somehow they are experts on what constitutes danger for a tourist in a foreign country.

The most important quality a wingman must possess is trustworthiness. You cannot hang out with someone, wander off the beaten track with them while wondering if the guy you're hanging with has your back.

I'd be very careful about soliciting this type of partner over the internet.

Oh la_barbie, you make me want a wing woman like yourself. I will be in Sosua next week. 8/23.

Superfly_Fly,
I plan to be in Sosua next few days; date given above. I generally stay at the Villachessa Hotel, a few doors from the Casino, Playa Chiguita. I hang out all over Sosua, but hardly venture out as my Spanish sucks and I generally never have a wingman with Spanish any better than mine. I will be there a few days only so I may not be the best of Wing, but la_barbie for my Wing-Woman is what I need. LOL.

Especially if it's your first time, you will have a blast in Sosua. Because you will be repeating most activities - Clubs/Bars, girls, beach, eat sleep, etc - you may get bored with the repitition. If you doing a long stay, then pace yourself so you don't get burnt out, but if you there for just a few days, I suggest you burn the candle at both ends. You can sleep on the plane coming back home. Take up la_barbie's offer for a wingwoman.
