Does PP have a basketball team? Is this an organized sport in the DR?

As we speak they are playing right now...they are ranked number 1 right now and they play Santo Dominigo Fri 20 and Sat 21 of July.

I thought that Pto Plata (Los Marineros) won the national championship last Sunday against Santiago. Was anyone else at polideportivo? Was this just a summer league?

Yes pp has basketball team. They are currently ranked #1 in there division. They play Santo Domingo this coming Friday and Saturday. Then they go to Santo Domingo for two games. If they beat them they will be #1 in the DR. I think. Go Puerto Plata.
