Danilo is full of it.Turn lights and Air conditioners off, pero vamos a dar Jepetas de 95000 USD cada una. Que tiene de malo que estos jueces manejen sus propios carros? I'm sure that they get enough perks to be able to do just that. Pero esperate,I'm sure it doesn't stop there, how 'bout some escortas, some chopos to drive.

Yeah sure, but way, let's foot their gas bill, you know ,those jepetas are only for official government business, not limited to the weekends testing out that new highway. But let's make sure nobody travels out of the country unless it's necessary, turn lights off, don't forget the ac.Why not create a new commission to oversee government expending, but wait, they need jepetas too, streets get flooded. So,how do the rest of SD gets around? Como es posible, que en un pais como La republica Dominicana, hay gente pasando hambre,y el gobirno esta regalando jepetas? Yes,it happens everywhere..Transparency in DR means this: CORRUPTION IN PLAIN SIGHT OF A POWERLESS SOCIETY.

Findings and recommendations:

Unfortunately, the only way to resolve this,is to respond to the government with equal measure. The Dominican government are a class of it's own,not white collar necessarily, but thugs and terrorists dressed in suits, suppressing the poor and taking at will,by means of using the people's military and national police,,including it's blue collard population.Maybe what's needed is a light version of a revolutionary group. What do I mean? Don't burn gomas, burn those jepetas, heck, blow them up,terrorize their monopolies. It's bound to happen. When Society is pushed to it's limits,to the point of desperation, eventually it will push back.

ESO ES JUSTO QUE TU DEJASTE ESE AIRE PRENDIO!!!!!

David Byrne of the "Talking Heads" wrote a song called "Same As it Ever Was". That is what life in the DR can be when you deal with the politicos. Almost everyone I know in the DR has basically given up. They don't even vote. I had to force la esposa to vote. I ended up taking her to SD where she is registered to vote. I told her I don't care who you vote for, as long as you vote. If it was not for the politicos corruption, this place would be such a wonderful island.

They are supported by the US Embassy and the Catholic church. No going back...Would there be a revolution in the DR, a revolution similar to the 1965 revolution? It seems like the people have more guns now than back then.

Religion y politica

La religion son como una prostituta al ligarse con la politica.Pero los mismos politicos are gonna turn on them.maybe in our lifetime maybe not.We just gotta be sure that we are doing the right thing.

Politicians don't care about quality of education or infrastructure, why? That's easy to answer. There's nothing wrong with the infrastructure of Carol Morgan,New horizons,Santiago Cristian,etc...that's where their children go,so why should there care about some other school in villa mella or gualey? Pothole? what pothole? Oh my jepeeta got damaged going through that pothole? It's ok,let's get a new jepeeta instead of fixing that pothole,it's cheaper like that.....for me.I hope there comes a time, where they start kdnapping these people,pa' que respeten a la gente, return them home at midnite with their pants wet, then, they will listen to the poor.

And now for the musical moment referred to in post 2:

History indicates there will be no real "changes" and the DR will remain "the same as it ever was".

Danilo doesn't have any say at all on how the Constitutional Court (which have even greater power than him in some cases) spends it's resources and budget. I would not put this one on Danilo. Besides Constitutional Judges needs to transport in a decent and dignified way. We are not talking about simple Juzgado de Paz judges...

Although they could have chosen a better timing for their purchase though....not well thought...

Precisely what I said in another post. DR needs a transformation. The only way to transform is to revolt.

Hmmm yea I wonder ifc these vehicles are armour plated and have bullet proof glass if so then I see the justification for the 95,000 price tag or they might just be Range Rovers !!!! Still this comes down to the masses paying for this !

For a revolution to be successful, it would have to be organized and they must have the same goal in mind.

Right now it will be unlikely to happen because every man is out for himself; only looking out for his own interest.

Here is how our leaders think; and it is no surprise that it is reflected in their behavior. It is also trickling down to the masses:

Here it goes ...

There are four Dominicans friends walking down George Washington Avenue, in DR.
They see a $100 bill on the sidewalk.. Every single one of them, immediately want to keep the $ for himself. He immediately start thinking about a way to cheat his friends out of a possible split of the money.

In the good old days, and the way I think it should be it is totally different.
It doen't matter who spottted the $, split it among the group.

This is the "come solo" mentality that we currently have...

I don't know how this could be turned around.... :(

The Dominicans don’t need to upraises and violence etc. to change the situation.
What they need is using their brains for ones and vote for example for Eduardo Estrella or Moreno and not for the same s**t as always. They should eat more Moringa and drink less 151.

Reading a book every once in a while would be an excellent start.

While I agree with you to a certain extent, I would say we should give give Danilo the benefit of the doubt at least for the first year. He reminds me a lot of Juan Bosch and his intentions seems real and genuine, but again, that's what I saw with Leonel in 1996 until he changed to be more of the same on his later years...let's see...

Reading a book needs concentration................., buying a book is expensive here, especially when they are busy trying to survive and playing domino in front of a colmado drinking beer. When I see deputados and senadores behind their Laptops I wonder if they can read.

Yeah, that's also why they don't care about children getting poisoned by the "school breakfast", as long as their kids don't need to eat that garbage, everything's fine!

Juan Bosch did not have the ex presidents wife as vice president at his site. I sure hope President Danilo will be able to manage all the compromises and deficits Leonel left behind.

65000 USD? That's it??!!

Precisely. As it turns out, they were purchased at the bargain price of $65,000 each, a steal. And the transaction was done before Danilo took his oath.

Timing is everything. It was done before he had power to stop it. I bet he's not too happy about it either.

I'm all for giving the guy a chance. Lord knows he's got an uphill fight on his hands.

Let's just say they bought them at 65000 USD a piece and not the reported 95000 USD,with that amount of money, they could've gotten this for the people,30 new police pickup trucks.
Toyota Tacoma 2008 En Venta en Rep?blica Dominicana @SuperCarros.com - #258363

But maybe they didn't want to because they figure the poor police wouldn't not turn the ac off during their shift.

a friend of mine, from Minnesota, once observed " the Dominican Republic cannot change. it is exactly what it was meant to be".
