Amazon is giving the HB and Kindle publication date as 11 September. A book of short stories is what first got him noticed in the mid/late 1990s - Drown - I wonder how these will compare.

I've been wanting to read his work in depth for a while. I see that 'Drown" was very successful. If he ever comes to the DC/Baltimore area for signings, lectures, etc. I will make an effort to see him

AlterEgo need the epub or pdf version not the Kindle version which is a .mobi file

WE use other readers that ony read other formats.

.EPUB
Electronic Publication Format . An e-book standard maintained by the International Digital Publishing Forum, designed for ‘re-flowable’ content, meaning that text will adjust to the device’s screen size for optimal viewing. Epub texts do not support images or embedded content such as equations at this time. The Nook is epub-enabled.

.HTML
Hypertext Markup Language Format. A computer programming language that many texts are formatted with; these texts are intended for viewing as part of a web page.

..PDF
Portable Document Format . Made by Adobe and compatible with their free Acrobat Reader (http://get.adobe.com/reader/), the Portable Document Format is widely used. PDF files are scanned images of printed pages or converted digital documents from other formats. PDF files are fixed-layout, meaning that their scale may not be suitable for very small screens.

Here is a chart that has the different formats

Also, he recently won a MacArthur genius grant: http://www.npr.org/2012/10/05/162379322/interview-macarthur-genius-junot-diaz

My husband and I saw him in Houston. We stayed afterwards to have him sign our copies of his books. He was extremely gracious and kind, staying over 1.5 hrs to sign books, take pictures and engage in conversation. He and my husband swapped stories about Santo Domingo and being the children of Dominican military men.

He was in Philadelphia on 9/29, and I really wanted to go, but I was already committed to another event :(
