Hello everyone,

Sorry if this is in the wrong section, but I was wondering what is the best resort to go too for a younger crowd? Me and my buddies who are all aged 24, male are looking for a place to go.

Which resort will be best suited for us? Nothing under a 4 star resort please.

Thank you!

The OP is looking for a FOUR star resort, not a brothel.
You never cease to amaze me with your intelligent responses Frank.

I'm not sure i understand the sarcasm. My suggestion was honorable and sincere. First, Passions has a motel which allows one to stay up to one or two weeks or longer. i know this because i've rented the rooms monthly for numerous years and know everyone on a first name basis. Secondly, they have fantastic staff and fabulous barbecue ribs. Thirdly, Passions offer far superior, quality entertainment--light years ahead of any AI resort in Punta Cana. Fourthly, they have a far superior All-you-can-eat-buffett provided you can afford the five course dinner.

On top of this, unlike Punta Cana, you can walk out of the Passions resort and and freely wonder around town. Everything is within walking distance of Passions resort--including, but not limited to--other Passion-like all-you-can-eat buffets. And you know what? The best part about the Passion type resorts is that each one carries different types of menus, food choices & desserts, and quality entertainment.

It's a win-win situation because not only are the staff being paid much more fairly than the Punta Cana resorts--where the monthyl pay is around $8000 pesos a month ($200 U.S) per employee, but it goes directly into helping the economy of the North Coast.

I cannot see how this is a bad thing. the enterainment is superior, the food is better, the menu is more diverse, the rooms are tidy and nice, the staff is warm and friendly, and you can rent the rooms hourly, daily, weekly, or monthly as i have happily done for numerous years.

In addition, I've written numerous reviews for Passions for Trip Advisor, Conde Nast, Travel & Leisure magazines; I've also recommended Passions over such well known and respected resorts as Vritomartis, Domaine de Belezy, Cap d' Agde's, and numerous others.

You'd probably love the Viva Wyndham Dominicus Beach, in Bayahibe (different area as Punta Cana, closer to La Romana, although with new road both are about 30-40 mins apart).

The following text from a reviewer elsewhere is quite accurate in my opinion:
There are a few families here and there -- but above all, Viva Wyndham Dominicus Beach is a young European party resort. Thumping dance music can be heard nightly, even from inside the oceanfront bungalow rooms. The bass-heavy songs drift over from the main bar, La Placita, where a live band plays to young Italians salsa-dancing in sexy skirts and heels. By day, they move to salsa-dancing in string bikinis by the pool and enthusiastic games of beach volleyball....Like its sister property, the slightly more upscale 330-room Viva Wyndham Dominicus Palace, this Viva is noticeably sexier than most resorts in the D.R. You’re likely to spot young Italians salsa-dancing in string bikinis (the Viva Wyndham is an Italian company, and about 80 percent of its guests are Italian). Dominicus Beach attracts younger couples, while the Palace is a bit quieter and pulls in more families

As stated, the client?le is mostly Italian, with France running a distant second...people from N. America form a small but still non-negligible percentage...This may actually be an advantage, depending on viewpoint...If you go you WILL love it...and may even save money...it is very reasonably priced.

The Occidental Grand (Flamenco) in the Punta Cana area would be a solid choice also...Its Mangu disco (opened to the general paying public) could be its biggest draw (although I myself despise the disco's client?le). N. American are also in the minority there, but more visible that at Viva (almost zero Italians, though, FWIW)...Russians make a strong contingent... The Riu complex in the Northern edge of the Punta Cana area also deserves consideration...

In all I would still take the Viva Wyndham Dominicus in a heart beat...if you have a problem with Italians for some reason (I certainly don't...nothing against young Italian women, particularly, although I tend to meet ones who go "slower" than I wish)...then one of the other two would be a fine choice.

Hi:
Forget Punta Cana. Go to Las Terrenas on the Samana Peninsula. You can rent a villa and split the cost. You will be right near Playa Las Ballenas which is one of the nicest beaches in the DR. Also, there are many restaurants and bars in town and you will have the option to party at your own accommodations. Google villas rentals Las Terrenas. If you are coming from Canada or NYC you can fly into El Catey(AZS) which is a 30 minute taxi ride away. While you are there go scuba diving, zip lining or horseback riding. Rent 4 wheelers and live like the locals. From NYC Jet Blue flies direct from JFK every Weds and Sat starting the middle of Nov. Good luck. If you want additional info send me a private message.

This, in my opinion, is by far and away, the best suggestion yet for a group of 24 year olds!

Hey buddy! I'm 26y/o and with several trips to DR under my belt.

It all depend where you are traveling from and budget...

Stay away from Viva Wyndham in La Romana... Cheap/bad quality alcohol, not much to do except for non-motorized water sports, and not so good entertainment.</SPAN>
If you are looking to stay within Resort- Punta Cana is your best option. </SPAN>

No doubt about it. Renting a villa will be like being in a reality show. Sex, drugs and rock & roll.

Look, I know Viva Wyndham Dominicus in BAYAHIBE really well, having stayed there several times (as well as in several other resorts between SD and PC).
If you went to this resort and came away thinking that "not much to do except for non-motorized water sports, and not so good entertainment" the most likely explanation is that you were in the PALACE side (not the Beach side), and never quite found out about all there is to do in the joint property, since much of the action occurs by the Beach side, between the theatre and the area called "La Placita" (by Beach I mean the side of the property called Beach---the Palace also has beach front)...Of course Palace guests can access everything on the Beach side...A typical night starts with a fairly elaborate (for AI resort standards) show at the theatre...then about 11:30PM or so the action moves to an outdoor "theme" party by La Placita until about 1AM, and from there the crowd moves to the disco until about 2:30-3:AM...a couple of nights a week they provide transport to an outside disco/casino property (optional)...It is definitely one of the most active resorts you can find in the DR, and it is perfect for young people (who don't mind Italians).

As for food and drinks common sense tells us that it heavily depends on personal taste... I find those about average for similar AI resorts.

I'm also looking for young crowd resort. But this seems way too European to me, I want to dance to Dominican music all day & night, not techno (nothing wrong w techno, just not my choice). Any resorts that cater more to the Latino crowd? That would make it at least a bit more cultural & fun, as I speak Spanish and not Italian.

First during the low season there are lots of Dominicans (especially on weekends) at Dominicus and many resorts...The vast majority of staff members are Dominicans and of course speak Spanish...at many resorts certain staff members are allowed or even required to enter to the resort disco... At Dominicus, there is significant "Latin" music at the outdoors party after the show, and at the disco (after 1AM)...

However, I know of no resort that would play mostly Dominican or Latin/Caribbean music...some guests would definitely complain if they did..they just don't know how to dance anything (other than jumping up and down) so they NEED disco music (which is actually fine) or hiphop so-called music (which is MUCH WORSE, mostly noise)...So, resorts DJ's typically alternate between Caribbean/Latin and disco/HH-type music...at times you may get much more of one type than the other...It depends on the specific DJ and the Dominant crowd at a time....

If you actually try the VW-Dominicus BEACH (not the sister property Palace) you will almost certainly have lots of fun...but don't forget the Occidental Flamenco in Punta Cana, where the Mangu disco is located...heard good things also about the Princess resorts (in PC) where the Areito disco is but have no first-hand experience with them...the Hard Rock Cafe resort also in the PC region may also deserve a look (no first-hand experience either)...VW-Dominicus and Flamenco would be a lot cheaper than the others, for as much or more fun.
