he did not invest, he just "rented out" his Name which is well known for such a project to attarct more Investors with the big Bucks, nothing bad on such practice and not uncommon in many Sectors.
I imagine myself as a example:
I run a Sportfishing Charter Company and I am based at Cap Cana Marina (not affiliated with Cap Cana, I pay Rent to be allowed to used the Location as my Homebase), I do so with Charter Boats which I own myself.
now come's a Boat Owner with a Charter Boat up to the required Standards of my operations and he does not want to start a competing charter business, but run his Boat under my Company's Name and Sales and Administration, so we agree on a Fee/Comission/Daily-monthly-yearly Rate or such to do so.
if I fulfill the Deal and fill his Boat he makes money and of course he ows Me the agreed percentage of that money, doesn't matter if He blew the wholen sum at a Casino or for his new Ferrari or such, and of course he can not start to sell charters on his boat in the name of my company but run that as "direct Sales around my administration" without paying me my share as agreed on in the prior deal.
if he does not pay my share or starts to use my name for Sales behind my Back I have the right to sue Him for that, without that I ever have made a Investment to Him in monetaries.
the Situation sounds like Cap Cana made a Deal with Trump to market the place under the Name of Trump and agreed on a specific percentage/comission of the Sales for that.
looks like they did run Sales of the properties in question but refused to pay the agreed on comission to Trump.
he has the right to sue them to get what is His.
