I know it is early, my son is in Grade 4...

So basically after Grade 12 (Bachillerate?) he can join University?

Or is there any of these (Teacher education- 2 year programs( basic education) , or 4 year programs
(actual degree in teaching) in between?

What if he do not want a 2 yr "Teacher education? What are these 4 year programs?

Nope!

In the DR:

Pre-school (Preescolar): Pre-kinder and Kinder

Elementary (Elementaria): 1st grade to 5th grade.

Middle School (Intermedia): 6th to 8th grades.

High School (Bachillerato): 9th to 12th grades.

As for Bachillerato tecnico or Vocacional it depends on the program, as it can be from the 4 years of Bachiller to as many as 6 with a certificate issued at completion.

Once he's done with grade 12th, he gets his HS Diploma and can assist any University or college or else in the DR.

Anything further than 12th grade is like him attending a technical of vocational school in the US linked to the HS years of study on the same program.
