Could you guys share your monthly budget, specially those staying/living in Santiago? Would be great to compare my projected budget for a family of 4. Details would be great. Cheers.

This is very well discussed here.... search it.

No need to ask again.... just makes us do your work:mad:

Oh come on my friend ww. Let me help. Between U.S. $1,500 to $35,000. each month. Not a joke. But you have to research to find such a difference.

Variety is the spice of life Ringo....

Who cares about mudanzas when you fly privately ??

Where's BB.... Barbra Streisand, 'Hello Dolly'...

Wrap it up and charge it is my favorite phrase,
When I see the chofer , think I'll give him a raise

Wow, show tunes, is there something you are hinting at WW?
Do you dryclean your jeans as well?

You can go screw yourself.... I do iron but not my underwear,as I expect you do

Fastidious ?? Understatement ?

BTW, I'm here now and need your charge account at Passions for that promise/suggestion you gave me.

Show tunes , my keyster......:knockedou

Here goes - live single.

Food per day 150 pesos 4,500 per month

Internet and tv subscriptions netflix etc 2,100 a month

Electricity solar assisted 1000 a month

Misc - cleaning materials, gas, etc. 300 a month

Gasoline for motorcycle 300 a month

Food is always cheaper in bulk so for a family of 4 maybe three times the amount

So you could reckon 13,000 for food. Plus about 4000 for other items .

Plus medical insurance and I own - do not pay rent.

Cheapest rent I have heard a family of gringos happy with 6,000 a month. Special offers at this time of year.

Education - home schooling free.

So you should reckon on $1,000 a month plus.

If you adapt diet more to beans, rice, pasta, plantain, yam , chicken, soya and home grown food bill could be halved.

Yappy,
What, you need that much for a single person. It is people like you that make natives think we are all loaded and just throw money around like it doesn't matter. We are not all privileged enough to live like royalty!

replace beans, chicken and pasta with free seaweed from LT, and you quarter the bill...

Forget the rice, it contains arsenic...

i know gringos here who live on 500 dollars a month or less but they don't even do seaweed, all their calories come in a liquid form, not much of a budget there. you could do bear grylls yanandu style living for 200-300 bucks a month but the more the merrier. most dr1ers live on at least 1.000 dollars a month (single) or about 3.000 (family). i think.
no one will tell the exact number in case you are from inland revenue :)

Actually yappys outgoings seem to have gone up and are becoming more realistic. $1000 for 4 is still lah lah, but his personal outgoings looks up to double what he was claiming last year, so he's obviously cut down on seaweed and started eating real food. Over RD20,000 from yaps seems good.

Do your sums again - about 12,000 14,000 pesos a month for single allowing for extras, travel, condo fee etc.
