I have made an Italian friend through a Dominican friend of mine. His wife is Dominican and has been here only few months. His Spanish isn't so good and he seems to be a little lonely so I'd thought I'd tried to find out if there are groups of Italian's that get together in the North area of the country. He is also apparently a well qualified carpenter. Any info would be appreciated.

Hi:
There are about 1200 Italian citizens in Las Terrenas. Many of those own restaurants and other business. Valerie, who is from Milan, is a great hair stylist, she is located in Plaza Rosada, where Supermarcado Lindo is located. There is also a great Italian Deii where the guys always have football on the TV. Tell him to take a ride. He will enjoy it.

And another one: La Bolognese Restaurant. The owners, Paolo ( even speaks Inglish ) and Simone are from Milano. And what is more important, after diner you can smoke a sigar if you like, and even if you don't like. Calle Prof. Hernandez # 10 Los Jardines Metropolitano, Santiago. Tel. 809 276 2600 Coming from La Estrella Sadhala in the direction Hotel El Grand Admirante Casino, turn left untill Hotel Los Jardines, turn left again and then the first street turn right into a one way street but who gives a damn here. You/he will see the sign "La Bolongnese" allready from the Av. Texas ( now called Av. Padre Dubert ).

There is an Italian restaurant, about 50 yards from PJ's on Pedro Clisante.

The owners are Italians, in their mid-thirties. I have only been there a couple of times so far, but each time they were happily chatting away to other Italians. Maybe your friend can check there.
