I just spent 3 days in <st1:City w:st="on">Santiago</st1:City>. Here are my thoughts: I flew on JetBlue (nice airline) into <st1:City w:st="on">Santiago</st1:City>. The airport in S<st1:City w:st="on">antiago</st1:City> is very nice and I went through customs in 5 minutes. All of the airport personnel were very polite and helpful. There were plenty of english speaking people/employees at the airport and they helped me right away to get a taxi to the hotel.
Next, I stayed at the <st1laceName w:st="on">Aloha</st1laceName> <st1laceName w:st="on">Sol</st1laceName> <st1laceName w:st="on">Hotel</st1laceName>. For $59.00 per night it was very nice. It is not Wynn Resorts in <st1:City w:st="on">Las Vegas</st1:City>, but it was clean, the A/C & free internet worked well and the shower had excellent water pressure and hot water. Also, I was impressed with the free breakfast which included bacon, toast, fruit, orange juice, coffee, eggs and potatoes and other various things. People at the front desk spoke english. The hotel also has a casino where I exchanged dollars for pesos at an exchange rate of either 37:1 or 37.5:1 (I can’t exactly remember). One more thing, I noticed there would often be a Dominican cop standing near the entrance of the hotel which I thought was a good thing.
<O</O
I saw many parts of the city with my native <st1:City w:st="on">Santiago</st1:City> friend. The people in S<st1:City w:st="on">antiago</ST1lace</st1:City> were definitely more friendly and had better manners than people in NJ/NY. I plan to go back soon to explore the area more.
