You should be able to have your electrician bring a second feed to your house and do some wiring there.

I have 220 for a/c and the water pump.

Can you give a little better description of what you would like to do. How many "devices"? Will they be used in different locations throughout the house? Are you looking to have 220 volt receptacle outlets while keeping 110 volt lighting? Do you currently have 220 volts at your main electrical panel?

I bought my 110 - 220 volt converter in ferreteria americana. I only use it for a laser printer and a electric drill, it's not very convenient, it's a heavy iron box and I don't dare to leave it connected when not using the appliance. My European TV works fine with the 110 volt system though.

Well, the house works with 110 v. I'd like to plug in a few 220 volts devices that I brought from Europe...

USA / DR 220 VAC is made up of 2 each 110 VAC + 1 each Neutral, while europe 220 VAC is made up of 1 each 220 VAC leg and one neutral.

There is no other way but the tranformers at each connection point or to the service branch wiring it in at the Breaker box.

I agree with not leaving those converter plugged in, so either keep doing what your doing or have the outlet wired to a wall switch.

or get some modern electronic converters, usually airports, where travel accessories are sold or try amazon.

g'luck!

they have them at telelancer on the way out of sosua toward sosua abajo on the right. Small brown ones, very unreliable..some works... some don't. 250 pesos.. Or another somewhat more professional bigger one for 750..good luck :)
